“And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, and cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years should be fulfilled…” (Revelation 20:1-3)
The thousand years is mentioned six times in seven verses. It is what we call the “Millennial Reign of Christ.” It is His kingdom age. It is during that time that there will be perfect peace on earth. The prophets tell us the lion will lie down with the lamb. A child can play with a serpent. Agricultural production will be unsurpassed. There will be no wars because nation shall not lift up sword against nation. We will know what peace on earth is like without Satan stirring up hatred and corruption. There will be no crime, no locks on the doors of our houses and no fear.
We can have individual peace now only as people repent, turn to Jesus and allow Him to rule and reign in their hearts and lives. Peace conferences and songs about, “Let there be peace on earth and let it begin in me” are all just wishful thinking without the Prince of Peace.
