Showing Evidence

“And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; behold Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken anything from any man by false accusation, I restore unto him fourfold.” (Luke 19:8)

The best evidence of a man being a Christian is a changed life. In verse six Zacchaeus hurried down the tree and received Jesus joyfully.

Too many people make their boast of having received the Lord Jesus but their lives give no evidence of it. The Bible says, “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.” (II Corinthians 5:17)

If a creature enjoys living near water, wabbles like a duck, has flat feet like a duck, quacks like a duck, swims like a duck, is much smaller than a goose and can fly for hours then from the evidence we may conclude it is a duck. For him to change, his nature would need to change.
