Make the Right Choice Today

“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” (Joshua 24:15)

The question was settled in Joshua’s mind long before he and the other eleven men went as spies to see the land. He and Caleb had faith that they could take the land. Now, he is in the role of leadership, Moses having died and God placing Joshua in that position.

We need leaders like Joshua. We need heads of homes like him, also. The gods of too many of our leaders and heads of homes are gods spelled with a little “g.” These “little ‘g’” gods are popular but they are helpless and of no value to a nation or a home in trouble. A “little ‘g’” god is not able to benefit one’s family, cannot save a marriage, cannot deliver one from pornography or homosexuality, and cannot break alcohol or drug addiction.

Joshua was forthright. “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” That choice may not be popular, but it’s the only choice that will deliver from the grip of sin and Satan.
