“And immediately when Jesus perceived in His spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, He said unto them, why reason ye these things in your hearts?” (Mark 2:8)
It should come as no surprise to us that the Lord Jesus knows every thought of man. The psalmist said “…thou understandest my thought afar off.” (Psalm 139:2) So Jesus knew the thoughts of these scribes as they reasoned in their hearts that Jesus was blaspheming God when He declared the palsied man’s sins to be forgiven.
Knowing our thoughts as He does, He knows our motives for all that we do: our church attendance, our service ministry, our prayers and all that we do. He knows whether or not our all is surrendered to Him. He knows when we have shaved some numbers on our tax returns. He knows when we have changed our “story” to fit a new situation.
