Pleasing God in the Small Things

“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, Oh LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.” (Psalm 19:14)

Jesus said that we would give an account of even our idle words in the day of judgment.  When we’re just chatting about our lawn, talking about the weather or discussing a ball game it is important to use words that are acceptable to God.

Not only our idle words but also what we think about, that which no one else knows about is important. We are told that we should keep our heart with all diligence. The psalmist said that the blessed or happy man is the one who meditates on God’s word day and night.
(Psalm 1:2)

Knowing these things, our prayer should be that our words and thoughts would be acceptable in God’s sight. Indeed, He is our Lord, our strength and our redeemer. It should be our desire, therefore, to please Him even in the smallest things.
