Stacking Dirty Laundry with Clean

“And such were some of you: but ye are washed…” (I Corinthians 6:11)

In First Corinthians 6:9-11 the Apostle Paul is giving warning concerning people coming to death’s door without having been saved. He tells his readers in his day as well as today’s readers that such people will not enter heaven. He says that some of them had been guilty of the sins listed in verses nine and ten, but that they had been washed.

Joining a church and becoming active in the work and ministry of that church without first being saved happens all too frequently and is one of the worst possible things that can happen to that person or to that church.

I heard someone say, “Many folks have been starched, ironed and neatly folded and stacked with the clean laundry, but they have not been washed yet because they have never seen the need of washing.” It answers the question, “Why are so many churches in such serious trouble today?”

An old familiar song asks, “Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?” Answering that question is of primary importance.
