Go in God’s Strength

“I will go in the strength of the Lord God: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even thine only.” (Psalm 71:16)

Following His crucifixion and resurrection our Lord Jesus Christ gave a big order to those of us who are His. We call it the Great Commission. We have been commissioned to make disciples, baptize them and teach them to observe all things our Savior has commanded us to do.

The strength to do His work of making disciples comes from our Savior. That’s why Paul could say as he wrote to the Philippian Christians, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)

The psalmist further stated that it was not his righteousness that he was promoting. The Bible says all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags. (Isaiah 64:6) It is the righteousness of God which the psalmist is promoting.
