Too Busy to Pray?

“And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, He went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.”(Mark 1:35)

I feel as though Mark has brought us into the Holy of Holies and that we are standing on holy ground.

The day before this scene had been a very busy time for Jesus, healing diseased people, casting out devils and seeing the crowd gathered just outside the door, waiting to see Him. But instead of “sleeping in,” He arose early before day the next morning and went out and departed into a solitary place.

A solitary place for us could be a closet, as He taught His disciples. A solitary place is somewhere that people are not watching and listening. It is a place where there is not an audience.

In His solitary place He prayed. If the very Son of God needed to be alone with God and pray who are we to neglect our prayer time?  Prayer is one of the most Christ-like things we can do. If you have gotten too busy to pray, you have gotten too busy.
