Jesus Preached the Word

“…and He preached the word unto them.” (Mark 2:2)

I would love to have heard the Master of all preachers preach the word. He must have known the preaching of the word was beneficial to mankind and very important.

Paul wrote to the Corinthians in his first letter to them that, “…it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.” (I Corinthians 1:21)  When he wrote to his young preacher friend, Timothy, he instructed him to, “…preach the word.” (II Timothy 4:2) 

However, the Bible tells us of some that “The word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.” (Hebrews 4:2)  One may go to church and hear sound Biblical preaching from the preacher behind the sacred desk, but if he does not accept it by faith it is of no profit to him. We must be “…doers of the word and not hearers only.” (James 1:22)
