The Value in Reading the Ancient Scriptures

“For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” (Romans 15:4)

Long before Paul was saved and long before he had written any of his epistles there were scriptures written by holy men of God.

I think of the writings of Moses the law giver who wrote from the mouth of God, whose words tell us what the law of God is and what it demands, thus telling us how desperately sinful we are and why we need a Savior.

Joshua reminds all his readers of the victory that is our in Jesus Christ. Job tells us that when we are going through trials and difficulties we will come through as gold tried in the fire. (Job 23:10)

Space will not permit us to write more scriptures containing hope and comfort. As you read and study the Old and New Testaments pay attention to what God is telling you.
