Salvation on the Authority of Jesus Christ

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, ‘He that heareth my word, and believeth on Him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation, but is passed from death unto life.’” (John 5:24)

Do you ever doubt your salvation, not knowing whether or not you are saved? Perhaps you are one of the many who feel that they have not “begged” God fervently enough for Him to give you salvation.

The truth of this verse is given under the authority of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Notice, “I say unto you.” Have you heard His word and do you believe what you heard? Notice that when you believe on Him you have - present tense - not someday out yonder in the distant future - everlasting life. When you hear and believe the promise, not only do you have everlasting life (how long is everlasting?), but also, you will never come into condemnation. You have passed from death to life.

You can trust what Jesus Christ says.
