"And that from a child
thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto
salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus." (2 Timothy 3:15)
When the apostle was writing
his last letter to Timothy, he mentioned Timothy's "unfeigned" faith
which had been prominent in the young man's grandmother Lois and in his mother
Eunice. (2 Timothy 1:5) He encourages Timothy to continue in the
things he has been taught and reminds him that from childhood he has known the
scriptures. In all likelihood the source
of that knowledge of scripture was Lois and Eunice.
What a blessing to have godly
parents and grandparents. What a responsibility
on parents and grandparents to teach the young ones in the things of God. Someone has suggested that "A family
altar will alter a family." It will
take changed lives to change families.
It will take changed families to change a nation back to the ways of
God.
