"My sons, be not now
negligent: for the LORD hath chosen you to stand before Him, to serve Him, and
that ye should minister unto Him, and burn incense." (2 Chronicles 29:11)
In my lifetime I have seen old
barns and houses in a run-down condition as a result of neglect. More seriously, we all have seen, or perhaps
even experienced, the result of neglected health issues. Neglect can be a very serious thing.
When Hezekiah, one of the few
good kings of Judah came to the throne, the house of God had been neglected and
it was in a very "run-down" condition. The bad condition of the place
of worship was a result of the negligent attitude of the people toward
God. Hezekiah called together the
priests and Levites and told them to sanctify themselves and the House of God
and to carry the filthiness that had accumulated out of the holy place.
The king reminded them that the
wrath of God was upon Judah and Jerusalem as a result of the people’s
backslidden condition. It was the result of negligence on the part of the
people. He called on the people to repent of their negligence in the things of
God
May I suggest some areas that
we must not neglect. First, don't
neglect the salvation of your soul.
Second, don't neglect the Savior's fellowship. Third, don't neglect your
separation from the world. Fourth, don't
neglect your service for the Master. And
finally, don't neglect sharing your testimony.
