“Herein
is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the Day of Judgment:
because as He is, so are we in this world.” (I John
4:17 )
Let us
not take the present verse out of context. Look at the preceding verse. “…God
is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.” That
statement is the perfection or completion of our love.
The Bible
says that everyone will stand in judgment, the lost man at the “Great White
Throne Judgment” (Revelation 20:11-13) and we Christians at the Judgment Seat
of Christ. (II Corinthians 5:10) The lost man cannot have boldness in his day
of judgment. However, God who is love, dwells in the believer and we will have
boldness, not arrogance, not pride; boldness because as He is, so are we in
this world. This does not say, “As He was.” “He was” a little baby in Bethlehem . “He was” a
scourged, beaten and crucified man. “He was” in a lonely tomb. But He is alive
and “He has raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places
in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:6) “As He is, so are we in this world.” To God
be the Glory!!!
